NEW YORK, NY – Stonybrook Capital, an investment and merchant bank, focused exclusively on the insurance industry, is pleased to announce that Thomas Deane has been promoted to Managing Director, that Todd White is joining the firm as a Managing Director and that Sara Smith joined as an Associate.

Mr. Deane joined Stonybrook Capital in 2017 as a Director and worked on numerous transactions including a $12.5m capital raise for Energi Insurance Services and a $125m capital raise for Heritage Insurance Company. He has over 15 years of experience in the insurance advisory space and prior to Stonybrook Capital he was a banker at JLT Capital Markets, where he first worked at Lloyd’s on several MGA ventures before transferring to the US, where he participated in various M&A and capital raising transactions. Prior to JLT, Mr. Deane worked at Benfield Advisory in London.

Todd White joins Stonybrook Capital as a Managing Director. He has 18 years of experience in re/insurance, asset management and capital markets, and has been involved in raising over $1.8 billion in capital for various re/insurance ventures and transactions. He is the founder of Puma Advisors, a boutique consultancy providing corporate finance, structuring and tax services to re/insurance, asset management and fintech/blockchain markets. Prior to forming Puma Advisors, Mr. White worked for Montpelier Reinsurance Group and Flagstone Reinsurance.

Sara Smith, joins Stonybrook Capital an Associate following two years as analyst at JLT Capital Markets. Prior to JLT Capital Markets Sara – who holds FINRA Series 7, 63 and 79 licenses – was an analyst at Greenwich Associates. She graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, CT with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and minor in French.
